Plain English Training Day

NALA is running a one-day training programme in Dublin on Wednesday 24 September. This training is practical and will help you communicate more clearly with your intended reader. The day runs from 9.30 am to 3 pm. If you would like to book a place, please contact Claire O'Riordan at coriordan@nala.ie

Claire will be happy to mail you further information on our training. Please note that you must pay for the course before you attend. Luckily, it is just €120 per person and (€100 if you are from the community and voluntary sector). We look forward to seeing you! Book early as places are limited.

Campaign for Plain English

Monday 22 September.

We will launch a new campaign asking the Irish Government to ensure that all information from the public sector is written in plain English. We need 5,000 signatures on our petition so expect to hear more from us soon!

The Reform Office, NALA and Plain English

This month staff from the Reform Office in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform took part in NALA plain English training. The training focused on the main plain English guidelines (writing concisely, using familiar words and using the active voice). It also focused on a selection of trainees' own documents. Staff reported that the training was interesting and useful. This training was delivered as part of the Department's commitment to plain language as outlined in the New Public Sector Reform Plan 2014-2016.
